RIP Papa Lee

Well as most of you probably read on my facebook page my Papa passed away last Sunday night. He had been sick and basically unresponsive for about a week and a half. He was surrounded by his family and just went to sleep peacefully. I am so glad that he is in heaven with my Gaga now. I know that they are happy together. For his memorial service they have asked each grandchild to write their favorite memories of Papa for the Preacher to read, so hear is mine.

Papa Lee loved us grandkids and great-grandaughters and spoiled us rotten. One of the first things I remember is he always had a snickers bar hidden somewhere for me when I came over. He loved to work outside, and it was a real treat if we got to ride on his lawnmower with him. He loved to take his naps and had no problem telling us kids to "hush up" if we were being too loud. We would take bike rides all of the time. (I think this was more so Gaga could get us out of the house for a minute but he still loved it. :) ) He loved to watch his Dallas Cowboy's football. He loved to eat. He always read out of his large print Bible, and always made sure that we read our Bibles. Growing up I always remember him in either red sweat shorts with a white t-shirt and a hat or jeans that had a crease sewn down the front of them, a white t-shirt and a hat. He loved to eat ice cream and drink pepsi and sometimes put peanuts in it. He loved to work with his tools in the garage. He had a large collection of National Geographics in the garage also. He loved to sit on the porch with binoculars and watch his birds. He loved to help people and give them anything they needed. He adored my Gaga and loved spoiling her. He loved to talk to anyone who would listen and tell some of his old stories. He loved the church and he loved God. He loved his daughters and always said they were the best in the world. He was very protective of his family. He was stubborn, courageous, a gentle giant, giving, onery, and a man unlike many in our culture today. He was loved by many and will not easily be forgotten. I love you Papa and can't wait for the day I can see you and Gaga again!
